Mac OS X Proxy Configuration

To use the FeedTreeProxy with a Mac OS X news reader such as NewsFire or NetNewsWire, the system-wide HTTP proxy must be configured. This means that all Web browser requests will also pass through the proxy; only RSS and Atom feeds will be modified by the proxy.

Configuration

1. Open the Network preference panel

The System Preferences (shown below) are reachable from the global Apple menu. Click on "Network".

2. Select your network interface

The Network panel (shown below) lists all network types available on your Mac. Double-click the one you use for RSS reading and Web surfing. (If you use multiple network types, for example both AirPort? and Ethernet, follow steps 2 and 3 with each of these.)

3. Add proxy settings

Click on the Proxy tab to reveal the proxy settings panel (shown below). Check the box next to HTTP Proxy and enter localhost for the part of the Web Proxy Server before the colon (:), and enter 8501 for the part after the colon (see screenshot below).
