Support for Web-based feed readers
Is there any way to make this work?
FeedTree cannot currently be used with Web-based feed reading applications (like Bloglines, My Yahoo!, Google Reader, etc.). This is because all the RSS and Atom feed polling happens on a distant server where FeedTree cannot intercept the connection and substitute up-to-the-minute content.
So how can I use FeedTree?
To use FeedTree at this time, you must download and install a desktop RSS reader (like those listed here).
A note to the web-based RSS reading services.
Note that there is no reason the developer of a Web-based feed reader could not add FeedTree support. The benefit to users is more timely news; the benefit to publishers is lower bandwidth strain; the benefit to the providers of the feed reading Web application is less time and bandwidth spent polling external feeds.
The FeedTree core Java library provides an easy-to-use API for subscribing to feeds through FeedTree, and can be easily integrated with existing Java code (or plugged into a non-Java application with some additional interface development). Get in touch and we'll make it work.
